ParametricEqualizerMenu
TheParametricEqualizermenuallowsyoutosetupthe6bandphaselinearparametricequalizer,
whichislocatedjustaheadofthemultibandsectionoftheprocessingcore.
TheFrequencysliderisusedtosetthecenterfrequencyforeachband.Therangeofthis
controlis20to22,050Hz.
TheWidth sliderdetermineshow much audioabove andbelow thecenterfrequencywill
alsobeaffectedbyanyboostsorcutsingain.Therangeofthiscontrolis0.0to10.0octaves
inonetenthoctaveincrements.Lowervaluesprovidea narrower(sharper)boostor cut,
whilehighervaluesprovideawider(gentler)boostorcut.
The Gain slider determines how much the audio selected with a combination of the
FrequencyandWidthslidersisboostedorcut.Eachbandcanbeboostedorcutby12dBin
onequarterdBincrementsforatotalrangeof24dbperband.
Althoughchangesmade intheparametricequalizersectionareoffsetsomewhat bythe actionof
themultibandcompressorsthatfollow,thisdoesnotoccurtothedegreeyoumightexpectbased
upon your experience with other processors. The parametric equalizer in Omnia.9 is a very
versatileandpowerfultoolforcreatingyouronairsound.AvisualrepresentationofthePEQusing
thebuiltinRTAcanbeseenintheRTAportionoftheDisplaySettingssectionofthismanual.
DownwardExpandersMenu
The Downward Expanders menu allows you to control the maximum gain reduction (downward
expansion) forall bands in the DownwardExpanders sectionas well as thethreshold, attackand
release speeds for each individual band. The total number of bands available in the Downward
ExpanderssectionisdeterminedbythenumberofbandsofprocessingusedintheCurrentPreset.
TheDownwardExpandersoperatesinamannersimilartoatraditional“noisegate,”andareuseful
forreducingunwantedbackgroundnoisefromlessthanperfectprogrammaterialorfromanoisy
studioenvironment.
