The Channel Mode menu provides a choice between Mono, Stereo, Stereo Independent,
ParametricStereo,andDualChannel.WerecommendsettingthiscontroltoStereoforbit
ratesover40kbpsandtoParametricStereoforbitratesof40kpbsandlower.Monoshould
beusedonlyiftheprogrammaterialismono.BecausetheStereoIndependentandDual
Channelsettingsforcetheencodertosharebitsequallybetweentheleftandrightchannels
insteadofallowingittoallocatethebitsasneeded,werecommendnotusingthesesettings
unlessyouhaveaspecificreasontodoso.
TheBitRatemenuallowsyoutochooseencodingbitratesbetween16kbpsand320kbps.
Yourchoiceofbitratesettingswillsignificantlyinfluencetheaudioqualityofyourstream.
However, you will also need to take other factors into consideration, such as the total
amount of bandwidth available for the stream, the anticipated number of users, your
maximumuploadspeed,andthedownloadspeedlimitsofyourintendedusers.
The Audio Bandwidth menu allows you to set the high frequency range of the stream
between8and20kHZ.Unlessyouhaveaspecificreasontosetthebandwidthmanually,we
stronglyrecommendleavingthiscontrolsettoEncoderDefault.
TheSampleRatemenuwilleithermaintainOmnia.9’ssamplerateof48kHzintheencoder,
orconvertitto32,44.1,or96kHz.
ThesettingoftheGaincontroliscritical.Normally,thiscontrolcanbeleftat0.0.However,
therearetimeswhenyouwillwanttoreducetheoutputleveloftheencoder.Forexample,
ifyouareemployingalotofpeaklimitingintheStreamingcoreandusingAAC+encodingat
alowbitrate,therewillbeexcessiveamountsofhighfrequency audio created as an
encodingartifact.Unlesstheoveralloutputoftheencoderisreduced,itwillbeuptothe
listener’sdecoderto dealwiththe excessivelevels,which willmost certainlydegradethe
qualityoftheaudio.YoumayalsoconsiderbackingofftheFinalLimiterDrivefromwithin
theStreamingprocessingcore.
