4.3 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The PRP is mainly composed of:
1. an application, resident on the PC, able to manage and carry out the complete
configuration of a set of radios;
2. a communication protocol to transfer the information from the PC to the radio
terminals;
3. a Boot software to be installed on the equipment to enable communication
with the PC.
The main functions, allowed by the MMI of the PRP, are the following:
• downloading of the Boot software into the radio terminal;
• downloading of the code of the equipment;
• downloading of the firmware of the equipment;
• downloading of the equipment data configuration;
• uploading the configuration of the data contained in the database of the radio
terminal and, consequently:
• displaying the uploaded data;
• saving the uploaded data of the PC database;
• comparing the uploaded data from the radio terminal database and the data
stored in the PC database.
Therefore the MMI provides the interface for managing the database and the
users.
