Chapter 5: OPTIONS Settings
Setting Communications Protocol
The HandiLaz Mini can be set to communicate with a PC by means of the
following communications protocols:
• RS232C or
• RS485
To set the Communications protocol:

If the <UTILITIES> screen is not visible, complete the following 3 steps
(step 2–4). Otherwise, go to step 5, below.

Navigate to OPTIONS on the main menu.

Press the
ENTER
key. The OPTIONS menu will open.

Navigate to UTILITIES, and press the
ENTER
key.
The UTILITIES setup display will open.

Press the
ENTER
key until the following screen is displayed.

Press the up ▲ or down ▼ key to toggle the setting from RS232C to RS485.

When the setting is correct, press the
PREV
key to exit the UTILITIES setup
screen.
Setting HOTKEY
HOTKEY enables a user to start sampling with a single key push. When
HOTKEY is enabled, and the unit is in the MAIN or MEASURE Mode Screen,
then pressing the
START
/
STOP
key (i.e., the HOTKEY) automatically starts the
sampling process. It begins with the countdown of the initial delay and operates
in the designated sampling mode, according to the current settings.
To set the HOTKEY:

Navigate to OPTIONS on the main menu.

key.
The OPTIONS menu will open.
