b. Use a 1/2" wrench to adjust the drive belt tension adjustment bolt as needed to
set the belt tension to the calibration tension specification. Monitor the tension
gauge value while making adjustments. Slide the motor forward to tighten the
tension and rearward to loosen the tension.
c. Remove the tension gauge. Then manually push the running belt so that the
drive belt moves several rotations around the drive roller and drive motor pul-
leys. Then remeasure and verify that the belt tension remained within spe-
cification. If the belt tension has changed, repeat the tension adjustment
procedure until the belt tension remains within specification.
Belt Condition Calibration Belt Tension
New 110 lbs +/- 10 (50 kgs +/- 4.5)
Used 85 lbs +/- 5 (39 kgs +/- 2)
CAUTION:Only make small incremental changes to the motor position per ten-
sion adjustment. Do not over tension the belt which could cause damage to the
belt or motor pulley mechanism.
8. Remove the tension gauge.
9. Fully tighten the four 1/2" hex head motor mount bolts and torque to specification 204
in-lbs (17 ft-lbs, 23 N-m).
10. Switch the input power ON.
11. Select QUICKSTART and operate the treadmill at 3 mph (5 kph) for 1 minute.
12. Stop the workout and switch the input power OFF.
13. Remeasure the belt tension and verify that the tension remained within specification.
If not within specification, repeat the belt tension adjustment procedure until the belt
tension remains within specification.
Belt Condition Drive Belt Tension
New 100-120 lbs (45-54 kgs)
Used 80-90 lbs (36-41 kgs)
14. Verify that the Drive Belt alignment remains properly aligned and has not moved out
of alignment during the tension adjustment process, see "Drive belt alignment" on
page61.
15. Reinstall the hood cover, see "Hood Cover Replacement" on page88.
16. Switch the input power ON.
17. Verify operation and return to service, see "Operation Verification" on page24).
