Activity 2 - Personal Competencies
Under seat stowage
The stowage underneath crew seats two and three can
be used to store the pump, bungs, tool kit, fog horn, Hi-
line gloves, Search light and emergency aerial. (Local
differences may apply)
Throw bag stowage
A throw bag is located on the fourth seat which is secured
by velcro to allow rapid release; this can be used to throw
to a casualty in the water or to pass a tow line.
MOB (man overboard) cord
The fourth seat has a MOB cord located on the starboard
side. The cord should be attached to the right leg of the
crew member so that in the event of a MOB, the alarm
would be activated and a light displayed on the helm
console. Pulling the cord also activates the MOB function
on the SIMS system.
NOTE
The MOB cord will not stop the engines.
Fourth seat stowage
The stowage underneath the fourth seat is primarily
used to stow first aid equipment such as: Ambulance
pouch, casualty bag, first aid kit, oxygen, collars, survivors
lifejackets, orange plastic smock, (Local differences
may apply)
NOTE
The ambulance pouch is NOT to be used as a
secondary casualty bag under any circumstances.
Aft lifting points
The lifting points are primarily used for davit / crane lifting
and launching. They are also load bearing and should be
used for a stern spring when towing as the cleats on the
A-frame are not suitable for this amount of load.
