17 Installing the CompTrol Interface expansion module

Danger of death from electric shock.
There is an immediate danger of death from electric shock if live parts are touched.
The CompTrol Interface is not splashproof. Exposure to water may therefore lead to a risk of
electric shock and malfunction.

Install the CompTrol Interface only in a switch gear cabinet with DIN rail indoors and in accor-
dance with the technical data.
17.1 General installation conditions
●
Do not install the unit in areas in which ammable gas may escape.
●
Do not install the unit in areas in which corrosive gas (e.g. sulfuric acid vapor) may escape.
●
Do not install the unit in areas in which volatile ammable substances are handled.
●
Install the unit only in dry, frost-proof indoor areas.
●
Do not install or use the unit in the vicinity of devices that produce electromagnetic elds or
high-frequency harmonics.
Devices such as inverters, emergency generators, transformers, switching power supply
units, modems, medical radio-frequency devices, and telecommunications equipment may
adversely aect the unit and cause malfunctions or failure. Furthermore, the unit may itself
impair medical equipment and telecommunications equipment and cause it to malfunction or
fail.

Do not install the unit in areas in which heat radiated by other heat sources could aect the
unit.
●
Do not install the unit in areas without sucient air circulation.
●
Do not install the unit in areas exposed to direct sunlight.
●
Do not install the unit in areas in which it may be exposed to water spray, e.g. laundry
facilities.
●
Adequately secure the cables connected to the unit against tensile loads.
●
Install the unit on a DIN rail in a switch gear cabinet or distribution cabinet.
●
Leave sucient clearance for service work and installation when mounting on a DIN rail
(see “17.2 Service and installation clearance” on page 96).
