802.11isasetofstandardsforwirelesslocalareanetwork(WLAN)communication,developedby
theIEEELAN/MANStandardsCommittee(IEEE802).
802.11b/g/n
802.11b/g/ncansharesamehardwareandusethe2.4GHzband.802.11bsupportsbandwidthupto11
Mbps,802.11nsupportsbandwidthupto150Mbps.802.11b/g/ndevicesmayoccasionallysuffer
interferencefrommicrowaveovens,cordlesstelephones,andBluetoothdevices.
Accesspoint
AccessPointorWirelessAccessPoint(APorW AP)isadevicethatconnectswirelesscommunication

AppleTalkisaproprietarysuiteofprotocolsdevelopedbyApple,Incforcomputernetworking.It
wasincludedintheoriginalMacintosh(1984)andisnowdeprecatedbyAppleinfavorofTCP/IP
networking.
BITDepth
Acomputergraphicstermdescribingthenumberofbitsusedtorepresentthecolorofasinglepixelin
abitmappedimage.Highercolordepthgivesabroaderrangeofdistinctcolors.Asthenumberofbits
increases,thenumberofpossiblecolorsbecomesimpracticallylargeforacolormap.1-bitcoloris
commonlycalledasmonochromeorblackandwhite.
BMP
AbitmappedgraphicsformatusedinternallybytheMicrosoftWindowsgraphicssubsystem(GDI),
andusedcommonlyasasimplegraphicsleformatonthatplatform.
BOOTP
BootstrapProtocol.AnetworkprotocolusedbyanetworkclienttoobtainitsIPaddressautomatically.
Thisisusuallydoneinthebootstrapprocessofcomputersoroperatingsystemsrunningonthem.The
BOOTPserversassigntheIPaddressfromapoolofaddressestoeachclient.BOOTPenables'diskless
workstation'computerstoobtainanIPaddresspriortoloadinganyadvancedoperatingsystem.
CCD
ChargeCoupledDevice(CCD)isahardwarewhichenablesthescanjob.CCDLockingmechanismis
alsousedtoholdtheCCDmoduletopreventanydamagewhenyoumovethemachine.
Collation
Collationisaprocessofprintingamultiple-copyjobinsets.Whencollationisselected,thedevice
printsanentiresetbeforeprintingadditionalcopies.
ControlPanel
Acontrolpanelisaat,typicallyvertical,areawherecontrolormonitoringinstrumentsaredisplayed.
Theyaretypicallyfoundinfrontofthemachine.
Coverage
Itistheprintingtermusedforatonerusagemeasurementonprinting.Forexample,5%coverage
meansthatanA4sidedpaperhasabout5%imageortextonit.So,ifthepaperororiginalhas
complicatedimagesorlotsoftextonit,thecoveragewillbehigherandatthesametime,atoner
usagewillbeasmuchasthecoverage.
CSV
CommaSeparatedV alues(CSV).Atypeofleformat,CSVisusedtoexchangedatabetween
disparateapplications.Theleformat,asitisusedinMicrosoftExcel,hasbecomeadefactostandard
throughouttheindustry,evenamongnon-Microsoftplatforms.
DADF
ADuplexAutomaticDocumentFeeder(DADF)isascanningunitthatwillautomaticallyfeedand
turnoveranoriginalsheetofpapersothatthemachinecanscanonbothsidesofthepaper.
DefaultThevalueorsettingthatisineffectwhentakingaprinteroutofitsboxstate,reset,orinitialized.
DHCP
ADynamicHostCongurationProtocol(DHCP)isaclient-servernetworkingprotocol.ADHCP
serverprovidescongurationparametersspecictotheDHCPclienthostrequesting,generally,
informationrequiredbytheclienthosttoparticipateonanIPnetwork.DHCPalsoprovidesa
mechanismforallocationofIPaddressestoclienthosts.
DIMM
DualInlineMemoryModule(DIMM),asmallcircuitboardthatholdsmemory.DIMMstoresall
thedatawithinthemachinelikeprintingdata,receivedfaxdata.
