The Loop Restoration Test sequence starts if voltage returns on one side (X or Y), as
determined by a Good Source Voltage indication, before the Maximum Time Allowed
for Restoration Timer expires.
When the Maximum Time Allowed for Restoration Timer expires, the IntelliRupter
fault interrupter stays in the Open state, goes to the Lockout state, and disables Loop
Restoration mode.
• To return to the Loop Restoration mode Ready state, manually close the IntelliRupter
fault interrupter with the OPEN/CLOSE/READY lever, a Wi-Fi command, or a SCADA
command. Then, Loop Restoration mode must be placed in the Enabled state with
a Wi-Fi or a SCADA command.
• If Automatic Enable of Loop Restoration for Manual Lever Close mode
(applicable to Normally Closed conguration) has been congured, then the Wi-Fi or
SCADA command to enable Loop Restoration mode is not necessary.
Normally-Closed Loop Restoration Test Sequence
The Loop Restoration Test sequence is congured on the Setup>Restoration>Loop
screen and is used by both Normally Open and Normally Closed congurations.
The Normally Closed Loop Restoration Test sequence follows this process:
• When good source voltage returns on one side, Closing Attempt #1 starts its
closing prole.
• If there is no voltage when a closing prole starts, the closing prole is rejected, and
the timers and sequence continue as if the close attempt detected a fault.
• When a PulseClosing Technology operation detects a fault or the Close operation
trips because of a fault, then Open Time Interval #1 will expire and the closing prole
specied for Closing Attempt #2 starts. This sequence continues for the congured
number of closing attempts.
• The IntelliRupter fault interrupter will go to the Lockout state if a Voltage,
Sectionalizing, or Frequency element trips during the Loop Restoration Test
sequence.
• When a close attempt is successful, the closing prole is replaced by the active general
prole. Loop Restoration mode goes to the Disabled state, and protection functions
are normal.
• When current-ow direction has not changed, Loop Restoration mode will enter the
Ready state if all Ready state conditions have been satised.
• When current ow changes direction, Loop Restoration mode is disabled, and the
reported Loop Restoration mode is in the Recongured state.
• When the configured number of closing attempts has been tried and either a
PulseClosing Technology operation detects a fault or a Close operation has resulted
in a trip because of a fault, the IntelliRupter fault interrupter remains open and goes to
the Lockout state, all Loop Restoration Timers are reset, and Loop Restoration
mode goes to the Disabled state.
• If Loop Restoration mode is taken out of the Ready state by a manual operation, by
applying the Hot Line Tag mode, or by disabling Loop Restoration mode, all timers
associated with Loop Restoration mode are reset but do not automatically change
the Open/Close position of the IntelliRupter fault interrupter.
