5. Briefly press the green button (max. 1 second). A message prompts the user
to stay clear of the patient.
Patient hazard — The guidelines given in 4.1 Instructions and Safety Notes must be
observed.

1. Briefly press the green button (max. 1 second) to switch on the device.
2. Assess the patient's condition (see 4.2 Defibrillation procedure).
3. Connect the electrode cable to the device (see 4.3 Applying the adhesive elec-
trodes).
4. Apply the defibrillation electrodes to the patient's chest (see 4.3 Applying the ad-
hesive electrodes).
Briefly press the green button (max. 1 second) to start the analysis. Otherwise, the de-
vice will switch off.
• The semi-automatic version of the FRED easy® can be configured so that the ECG
analysis is initiated automatically. In this case, the device prompts the user to con-
nect the electrodes and then automatically runs the analysis without any interven-
tion by the user.
• If the device detects ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia with a heart
rate exceeding 150 bpm, Step 3 Shock delivery follows; otherwise, continue with
Step 4, Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
