CLV490 Bar Code Scanner

Operation

A2. Tracking mode (controlled by Increment)

• Max. 10 consecutive objects in conveyor direction simultanously in the reading field,

reading one side with internal object tracking

Conditions:

• Minimum object gap between two objects in conveyor direction: 50 mm (1.97 in)

• Size of reading field = distance between sensor for beginning/end of object and object

release point parameterized (data output)

• Autofocus mode "Differential background and tracking“, see Table 6-6, Page 6-13 or

event-controlled focus position switchover

• Incremental encoder connected to "IN 4" switching input

Possible reading triggers:

• One external sensor (e. g. photoelectric reflex switch)

• Command strings

Note To separate bar codes of the same type with identical contents, connect an incremental

encoder and activate the "Seperate codes dependent on reading angle" function. See also

Table 6-24, Page 6-36.

Why is the "Device Ready" LED not lit on my SICK Advanced Barcode Reader?

  The "Device Ready" LED might not be lit due to several reasons: * If just switched on, the CLV490 might not be getting power. Check the wiring and ensure the power connector is securely fitted to the CDM490 Connection Module. Measure the voltage at pin 1 and pin 5. * The CLV490 may have encountered a device error during its self-test. Try switching the CLV490 off and on again. * The CLV490 might not be in "Reading" mode. Use the "CLV-Setup" program to return to Reading mode. * If in trigger mode, the laser diode may have deactivated after 10 minutes (default setting) following the start of the reading pulse. Terminate the reading pulse, check the reading pulse function, and supply a new pulse.
