Troubleshooting
CLV490 integrated in OTS400 Omni Tracking System
Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
1. Trigger mode in the CLV490:
OTS trigger
Reading mode "Start/stop":
CLV490 not triggered by the OTC400:
– the "Sensor" LED does not light up
– the red scan line does not appear
• Incorrect reading pulse source para-
meterized in the CLV490.
• CLV490 not parameterized as Slave.
• CAN interface incorrectly parameterized
in the CLV490.
• Sensors for start and stop of reading trig-
ger: incorrectly connected to OTC400 or
switching inputs incorrectly parameter-
ized.
• "Master/Slave" mode not selected in
the OTC400.
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
D
EVICE CONFIGURATION tab, READING TRIG-
GER SOURCE section: is "OTS trigger"
mode selected?
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
D
EVICE CONFIGURATION tab, click the TRACK-
ING PARAMETERS button, RELEASE POINTS
section: OBJECT RELEASE POINT/END OF
READING FIELD/DATA OUTPUT section:
"0 mm" selected?
Check box "M
ASTER/SLAVE VIA OTC" acti-
vated?
• Check: CAN
INTERFACE tab, CAN INTERFACE
FUNCTION section: "OTS slave" as well as
"data transfer rate" selected in accor-
dance to OTC400?
• Check connection and parameterization
of switching inputs, see OTS400 Opera-
ting Instructions (no. 8008869, English
edition).
• Check in OTC400 with the "CLV-
Setup" program:
choose the DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab,
click the READING PARAMETERS tab, OPERAT-
ING MODE section: one of the two modes
for master/slave selected?
2. Trigger mode in the CLV490:
OTS trigger
Reading mode "Tracking":
CLV490 not triggered by the OTC400:
– the "Sensor" LED does not light up
– the red scan line does not appear
• Incorrect reading pulse source para-
meterized in the CLV490.
• CAN interface incorrectly parameterized
in the CLV490.
• Sensor for beginning of object (at the be-
ginning of the reading field) incorrectly
connected to OTC400 or switching input
incorrectly parameterized.
• Incorrect operation mode selected in the
OTC400.
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab, READING TRIG-
GER SOURCE section: "OTS trigger" mode
selected?
• Check: CAN INTERFACE tab, CAN INTERFACE
FUNCTION section: "OTS Slave" as well as
"data transfer rate" selected in accor-
dance to OTC400?
• Check connection and parameterization
of switching inputs, see OTS400 Opera-
ting Instructions (no. 8008869, English
edition).
• Check in OTC400 with the "CLV-Setup"
program: choose the DEVICE CONFIGURATI-
ON tab, click the READING TRIGGER PARAME-
TERS button, OPERATING MODE section:
"Increment controlled (Tracking)" select-
ed?
