8 Care and maintenance
The safety light curtain C4000 is maintenance-free. The front screen of the safety light
curtain C4000 and any additional front screen(s) (see “Additional front screen (weld spark
guard)” on page 61) should be cleaned at regular intervals and when dirty.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.
Static charges cause dust particles to be attracted to the front screen. You can prevent
this effect by using the antistatic plastic cleaner (SICK part number 5600006) and the
SICK lens cloth (part number 4003353).
How to clean the front screen and/or the additional front screen (optional extra):
Use a clean and soft brush to remove dust from the front screen.
Then wipe the front screen with a clean and damp cloth.
After cleaning, check the position of sender and receiver to make sure that the protec-
tive device cannot be bypassed (reaching above, below or stepping behind).
Verify the effectiveness of the protective device as described in chapter 6.3 “Test
notes” on page 38.
