S5-95F
Basic System Design - with External
1/0s
You can expand the basic system by using S5-1OOU modules (external 1/0s). These external
1/0s
consist of functional units that you can combine according to the task you want to perform.
Example of a Subunit with External
1/0s

Basic Unit
For an S5-95F you always require two basic units. These two basic units are the core of the
programmable controller and are connected via a fiber optic cable.
External
1/0s
If you require more than the available onboard
1/0s
or if you need special functions, you can
expand your basic system with additional external
1/0s.
The
S5-95F
can be expanded via bus units with
S5-1OOU
 standard and failsafe modules. A
maximum of 8 bus units can be connected to each basic unit.
Bus Units with Terminal Blocks
(crimp snap-in or
SIGUT)
Bus units are used to connect the
S5-1OOU
modules to the basic unit. One bus unit
accommodate two
1/0
 modules.
Standard Mounting Rail
The power supply module, the basic unit and the required bus units are mounted on
standard mounting rail.
