Advanced commissioning
7.1 Overview of the converter functions
Functions relevant to all applications
Functions required in special applications only
The functions that you require in each application are shown
in a dark color in the function overview above.
You set these functions during the basic commissioning, so
that in many cases, the motor can be operated without hav-
ing to make any additional settings.
The functions whose parameters you only need to adapt
when actually required are shown in white in the function
overview above.
Inverter control
is responsible for all of the other
inverter functions. Among other things, it defines
how the inverter responds to external control
signals.
Inverter control (Page 117)
The
protection and monitoring
functions avoid
overloads and operating states that could cause
damage to the motor, inverter and driven load.
The motor temperature monitoring, for example,
is set here.
Protection functions (Page 167)
The
commands
from the higher-level control are
sent to the inverter via digital inputs or the
fieldbus. The inverter returns its
status signals
to
the outputs of the Control Unit or to the fieldbus.
Adapt inputs and outputs (Page 117)
Adapt fieldbus configuration (Page 91)
The
application-specific
functions
allow you to
control a motor holding brake or implement a
higher-level pressure or temperature control
using the technology controller, for example.
Application-specific functions (Page 175)
The
setpoint source
defines how the speed
setpoint for the motor is specified, e.g. via an
analog input or a fieldbus.
Setpoints (Page 129)
The
safety functions
are used in applications
that must fulfill special requirements in terms of
functional safety.
Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function
(Page 201)
The
setpoint calculation
uses a ramp-function
generator to prevent speed steps occurring and
to limit the speed to a permissible maximum
value.
Setpoint calculation (Page 136)
The extended safety functions monitor the drive
speed.
The extended safety functions are described in
the "Safety Integrated Function Manual", also
refer to Section: Manuals for your converter
(Page 316)
The
motor closed-loop control
ensures that the
motor follows the speed setpoint.
