Figure 2.6 shows the interfaces of the tool management software within the SINUMERIK 880
system with reference to the machine program. The tool management software is divided into
the memory/file areas and function areas.
Memory/file areas
The memory/file areas are used for storing the tool data and the data for the magazine
image/magazine assignment. The parameters for the TO memory are assigned via the NC
machine data. The magazine/turret table is initialized via the PLC machine data words and bits
of data blocks 61 and 64. The TO memory is supervised from the PLC. The offset addresses
are generated and managed by the PLC via a "bit string" included in the data block for TO
memory management (DB 148). For entering, deleting and transferring data within the table of
magazine
/
turret data, the magazine/turret table is accessed by various functional units of the
tool management software.
In addition to the data areas shown in Figure 2.6, further internal data areas are available for
buffering program-internal statuses and for handling data during data input and data output via
tape, computer link and code carrier. These data areas are set up during system startup.
