11.92 2 Description of Functions
2.2.1 Tool search
2.2.1.1 T = ID number
The value of the T word is interpreted as a tool number in this case. The tool number is
searched for in DBs 152 to 155, that is in the data area that has been assigned to the
submagazine by the machine data. In this case, the search includes the tool buffer, too. If the
tool is found, the locator number in the magazine and the data word number of the tool are
entered in the submagazine-specific user interface (locator No. in DW 74, DW No. in DW 72 in
the corresponding channel DB).
A tool cannot be found if it is disabled by bit 10 in DB 152 or not activated by bit 8. If the tool
is not found in the first search, a second search run will be initiated automatically. In this run, a
replacement tool with the same tool number is searched for. If it is found, it is immediately
declared an active tool, i.e. bit 9 "replacement tool" of this data word is reset in DB 152. The
location and the data word of this tool are output at the submagazine-specific user interface.
If not even a replacement tool is available in the magazine and no further magazine is
assigned to that magazine, the message "Tool missing"(D 71.0 in the respective channel DB)
is output.
The search sequence is slightly different if an additional magazine is assigned to this
magazine. If the search for an active tool in the main magazine was not successful, the
chained magazine will be searched before a replacement tool is searched for. The search for a
replacement tool starts in the main magazine and then continues in the assigned magazine.
Before initiating the search in the assigned magazine, the assigned magazine must first be
declared active through the submagazine-specific machine data bit m+13, bit 2 (m=7000 for
PLC 1, etc.)
2.2.1.2 T = Locator number with fixed D number
Caution: loading onto a fixed D number is not supported by tool management.
The value of the T word is the magazine locator number of the tool. In this case, not only the
locator numbers but also the D memories are permanently assigned to the tools.
This type of search is only permissible in turret magazines. The following combinations are not
supported:
T= Locator number; the magazine is not a turret.
Magazine is a turret and a background magazine at the same time.
Magazine is a turret and the "linear magazine" bit is set.
