General
Removal of the engine assembly is accomplished by
removing the hood and disconnecting the battery, front
PTO, throttle control cables, fuel lines, wiring harnesses,
hydrostatic unit drive shaft, radiator (where applicable),
and engine mounting hardware. Installation is the
reverse of this procedure.
Engine dry weight (approximately) 165 lbs.

Briggs & Stratton - Engine Removal
1. Remove the hood (Refer to Section 14, HOOD,
DASH & FOOT REST SERVICE).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (A, Figure 32)
from the battery (B). Disconnect the positive battery
cable (C) from the battery.
3. Remove the hardware securing the battery holddown
(D), and remove the battery from the tractor.
4. Remove the hardware securing the muffler (E) and
bracket (F) to the engine, and remove the muffler and
bracket.
5. Disconnect the positive battery cable (G) and sole-
noid control wire from the starter solenoid.
6. Disconnect the electrical harness connections (H) on
the alternator, and the crankshaft sensor connector (I).
WARNING
Before beginning any service work, turn the PTO
OFF, set the parking brake, turn the ignition
switch OFF and remove the key. Disconnect the
spark plug wire(s) on gas engine models, and
disconnect negative battery cable.
