Non-Routine Maintenance Section 5 – Procedures
5. Position the starter so the pinion is facing down.
6. Remove the nut and retaining washer securing
the harnesses with a 17 mm socket 24” long
extension, and then disconnect the harnesses
from the starter.

7. Discard defective/existing starter.
8. Connect all harnesses to the new starter stud
and secure them with the nut and washer (do not
tighten the nut).

9. Place starter on the engine flywheel/connection
housing.

10. Secure starter to the engine with the upper and
lower bolts.
11. Tighten nut securing the harnesses.
12. Connect battery.
13. Perform a full function test as outlined in Section
‘Function Tests’ of the operating manual.
