6.6.8 Air suspension with levelling system
Optional extra:
The air suspension replaces the mechanical suspension at the front
and rear axle. The advantages of the air suspension are quiet,
comfortable driving and the variable vehicle height.
The cushioning is done by means of air bellows, in which, during
compressing and stretching, compressed air at fluctuating pressure
produces the counterforce to the dynamic drive forces exerted at the
respective wheel. Levelling valves control the pressure in the air
bellows such that the machine height remains constant, independent
of the load. In case of deficient air, the machine comes down onto
built-in, mechanical emergency running springs.
Due to the levelling system, the machine height can be varied by
lifting and lowering. The lowering function is used to reduce the
machine height for transport on trucks or for low stable overhead
clearances.
DANGER
Risk of crushing and impact to third persons when lifting and
lowering the machine!
Make sure that people leave the hazardous area next to or beneath
the machine before actuating the levelling system.
CAUTION
Damage to the machine due to fast driving with the machine
lowered!
It is imperative to switch the air suspension on again at travelling
speeds of more than 10 km/h.
Lower machine
1. Reduce the travelling speed to less than
10 km/h.
2. Turn the rotary switch to position "Lower
machine" (Vent).
The machine comes down onto the
mechanical emergency running springs.
