PREPARATION PRIOR TO USE
Warnings
DANGER
Never stand between the headboard and head section when the
latter is in the up position.
MANOEUVRES TO AVOID
Never attempt to stride over safety side-rail when in fully
raised position.
Lower bed frame, if necessary, to facilitate access to bed.
Never attempt to move bed by holding on to safety side-
rails.
Move bed by holding on to headboard or footboard.
Never use safety side-rail as a step when in lowered position.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Always ensure that safety side-rails are locked in place when
in fully raised position.
Always leave headboard and footboard in place during nor-
mal use.
They may be removed in case of an emergency.
Unlock casters or central locking system located at the base
of bed before moving it.
Always retract safety-side rails under bed after lowering
them.
TO ENSURE SAFETY OF CONFUSED OR AGITATED PATIENTS
Deactivate position commands on patient control.
Use the lockout command located on the nursing control at the
foot of bed.
Use removable protective barriers on a bed equipped with
half-length safety side-rails.
Warning: In no way do these barriers replace restraining
devices.
Side-rails are designed to prevent patients from rolling or falling off
bed; they are not designed to restrain a confused or agitated person
confined to bed.
