Operating Mode
9.1 Basic Functions
The PCS is equipped with the following functions:
Grid-connected operation
The PCS is designed with perfect grid—connected operation function and can flexibly adapt
to different batteries to control charging and discharging. Charging/discharging mode and
charging/discharging instruction are set through the PC or on the user interface. The specific
operation modes are as follows:
Grid—connected constant power (AC), grid—connected constant power (DC), grid—con-
nected constant voltage, and grid—connected constant current are set according to dispatch
instructions and available in both charging and discharging states. The grid—connected op-
eration mode can well adapt to scenarios such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, peak
load shifting, smooth grid connection of new energy, and the like.
Independent inversion (VF)
The PCS can implement black start in the off-grid state through the independent inversion
function (VF), and can provide AC voltage source with stable voltage amplitude and fre-
quency to support the load. Independent inversion voltage instruction and frequency instruc-
tion are set through the PC or on user interface.
The independent inversion function can provide power supply to keep the system stable in
remote area, island, commercial micro grid, and other scenarios. In addition, the PCS can
be used as a standby power source to ensure power supply on important occasions or for
important device.
VSG function
The VSG function includes grid—connected operation and off-grid operation. In normal grid
—connected operation, the PCS can regulate the grid-connected active power and reactive
power by activating the VSG function. During off-grid operation, the PCS can activate the
VSG function to provide an AC voltage source to support the load. In this case, the ampli-
tude and frequency of the AC voltage source are adjusted automatically as per the load
attributes.
The VSG function has a commanding advantage in commercial micro grid with multiple
kinds of energies. Particularly, in the micro grid with more rotating equipment such as a die-
sel engine, the VSG function can stabilize the system operation well.
Black Start
In a system with black start application, the PCS and the isolation transformer are connected
in parallel to the plant by the MV BUS, which is connected to the power grid through the main
