Troubleshooting Circuits Using Parallel Buses
In this example, you are monitoring a parallel bus with your oscilloscope. You can use your MSO4000B Series oscilloscope
with its 16 digital channels to analyze the bus. The MSO4000B Series will not only let you s ee the on-off status of the
signals, but will also decode the parallel bus signals for you.
Basic S trategy
First, you will display and acquire the d igital signals. Then, you will search through the data with the search/mark functions.
NOTE. The MSO4000B Series oscilloscopes support triggering and decoding on Parallel bus signals.
1. Connect the desired logic probe tips to
the desire
d test points. For simplicity, this
example connects to a 7-bit counter.
2. Push Default Setup. Then push the channel
1 button to remove the waveform from the
display.
3. Push the D15-D0 button.
4. Push D15-D0 On/Off on the lower menu
and then push Turn On D7-D0 on the side
menu to display the digital w aveforms. To
turn off a channel, use multipurpose knob a
to select the channel and push Display on
the side menu to select Off.
