Getting started
Checking remo
te command operation
To check remote command operation of the TG8000 mainframe, perform the
following procedure:
1. Connect the TG8000 to your PC using an Ethernet cable. Refer to the
TG8000 Multiformat Test Signal Generator User Manual (Tektronix part
number 071-
3036-XX) for detailed information about how to connect the
TG8000 to your PC.
2. Click Wind
ows Start button and select Run from the start menu
3. In the dialog box, type telnet and then click OK.
The TELNET window appears.
4. Select Terminal > Preferences.
5. Select Local Echo and click OK.
6. Select Connect > Remote System.
7. Enter t
he IP address of the TG8000 in the Host Name eld and 5000 in the
Port eld.
8. Click
Connection.
9. Type *IDN in the command line and press the Enter key.
10. Check that the ID information of the TG8000 appears on the PC.
NOTE. If you use a PC running Windows 2000/XP/7, connect the TG8000 and
you
r PC using the Hyper Terminal application supplied with Windows. Refer to
WindowsOnlineHelporotherdocumentation for detailed information about
Hyper Terminal.
