8. Apply the vehicle parking brakes and place the transmission lever in neutral. Start the
engine and let it idle for 5 minutes. Check the dipstick periodically while the engine is
idling, adding oil as needed to obtain a level that is in the Cold Band on the dipstick.
Total quantity added at this time should be approximately 10 gallons.
9.
With the transmission still in neutral, increase the engine idle speed t 1500 rpm and
retain at this speed for 5 minutes. Now recheck the oil level at normal engine idle
speed in neutral, again adding oil as requite on the dipstick. Total oil quantity added at
this time should be 11 gallons.
