Read all of SAFETY and this section before attempting any procedure. Pay particular attention to Notices, Cautions, Warnings and Dangers.

6. Remove the cotter pin and clevis pin from the brake
pedal.
7. Remove two hex head bolts (4) and nuts (5) that
secure the master cylinder and shield (12) to the
frame. Remove the master cylinder and shield from
the vehicle.
8. Installation of master cylinder is the reverse of
removal.
9. Tighten hardware to the torque values specified
below:
10. Fill the master cylinder with DOT 4 brake fluid and
bleed the brake system.
11. After bleeding the brake system, check for leaks
along all lines and at the master cylinder.

Replace brake pads as a full set on both front and rear
wheels. To remove the brake pads, lift and support the
vehicle as instructed in the SAFETY section.
1. Remove the wheel. See Wheel Removal on
page 54.
2. Remove the two bolts (15) and lock washers (16)
that secure the caliper assembly (17) to the spindle
(18) (Ref. Fig. 5). Swing the caliper free from the
spindle and the rotor.
