LenovoCompanionautomaticallydownloadsandinstallstheupdates.
SystemUpdateorLenovoCompanionispreinstalledonyourcomputerandisreadytorun.Theonly
prerequisiteisanactiveInternetconnection.Youcanstarttheprogrammanually,oryoucanusethe
schedulefeaturetoenabletheprogramtosearchforupdatesautomaticallyatspecifiedintervals.Youalso
canpredefinescheduledupdatestosearchbythefollowingseveritysothelistyouchoosefromcontains
onlythoseupdatetypesthatyouneed:
•Criticalupdates(Windows7andWindows10)
•Criticalandrecommendedupdates(Windows7)

UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram
TheThinkPadSetupprogramenablesyoutoselectthepreferredsettingsforyourcomputerthrough
configuringtheBIOS.

TheThinkPadSetupprogrammenulistsvariousitemsaboutsystemconfiguration.
Attention:Thedefaultconfigurationsarealreadyoptimizedforyou.Improperchangeoftheconfigurations
mightcauseunexpectedresults.
ToconfigureThinkPadSetup,dothefollowing:
1.Restartthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogramstarts.
Note:Ifyouarerequiredtoenterthesupervisorpassword,enterthecorrectpassword.Youalsocan
pressEntertoskipthepasswordpromptandstarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyoudonotenterthe
password,youcannotchangetheconfigurationsthatareprotectedbythesupervisorpassword.
2.Usethearrowkeystoselectatab;orusethearrowkeystolocateanitemandpressEntertoselect
it.Thenthesupportedsubmenuisdisplayed.
3.Defaultvaluesareinboldface.Setthevalueofanitembydoingoneofthefollowing:
•PressF6tochangetoahighervalue.
•PressF5tochangetoalowervalue.
4.PresstheEsckeytoexitthesubmenuandreturntotheparentmenu.Thenusethesamemethod
mentionedabovetochangeotherconfigurations.
5.Whenyoucompletetheconfiguration,pressF10tosaveandexit.YoualsocanselecttheRestarttabin
theThinkPadSetupmenu,andrestartyourcomputerwithoneoftheprovidedoptions.
YoucanpressF9torestoretothedefaultsettings.
