Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Pressandholdthepowerbuttonuntilthecomputerturnsoff.Ifyoucannotturnoffthecomputerby
pressingthepowerbutton,removetheacpoweradapterandtheremovablebattery.Afterthecomputer
isturnedoff,reconnecttheacpoweradapterandreinstalltheremovablebattery,andthenrestartthe
computerbypressingthepowerbutton.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnon,continuewithstep2.
2.Whilethecomputeristurnedoff,removeallpowersourcesfromthecomputer(removablebatteryand
theacpoweradapter).Plugintheacpoweradapterwhilekeepingtheremovablebatteryoutofthe
computer.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnbackon,continuewithstep3.
Note:WhenthecomputerstartsupandenterstheWindowsenvironment,usethepropershutdown
proceduretoturnoffthecomputer.Whenthecomputerisoff,reattachtheremovablebatteryand
restartthecomputer.Ifthecomputerdoesnotstartwiththeremovablebatteryreattached,removethe
removablebatteryandagainstartwithstep2.Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstart
whentheremovablebatteryisattached,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforsupport.
3.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpower(removablebatteryandtheacpoweradapter).
Removeallexternaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,mouse,printer,scanner,and
soon).Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,continuewithstep4.
Note:Thefollowingstepsinvolveremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.Makesure
thatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.Ifyouare
uncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforassistance.
4.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardware.Removeanynon-original
memorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Afterremovingtheextramemorymoduleandreinstallingthe
originalmemorymodule,repeatstep2.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,consulttheusermanual
forothercustomer-replaceablecomponentsthatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotstartup,calltheCustomerSupportCenterandaCustomerSupportSpecialist
willassistyou.

Problem:Ispillsomethingonthecomputer.
Solution:Becausemostliquidsconductelectricity,liquidspilledonthekeyboardcouldcreatenumerous
shortcircuitsanddamageyourcomputer.Tosolvetheproblem,dothefollowing:
1.Ensurethatnoliquidcreatesashortcircuitbetweenyouandtheacpoweradapter(ifinuse).
2.Carefullyunplugtheacpoweradapterimmediately.
3.Turnoffthecomputerimmediately.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnoff,removetheremovablebattery.The
morequicklyyoustopthecurrentfrompassingthroughthecomputerthemorelikelyyouwillreduce
damagefromshortcircuits.
Attention:Althoughyoumightlosesomedataorworkbyturningoffthecomputerimmediately,leaving
thecomputeronmightmakeyourcomputerunusable.
4.Waittillalltheliquidisdrainedoutfromthekeyboarddrainageholesbeforeturningonyourcomputer.

•Message:0177:BadSVPdata,stopPOSTtask.
Solution:ChecksumofthesupervisorpasswordintheEEPROMisnotcorrect.Thesystemboard
shouldbereplaced.Havethecomputerserviced.
•Message:0183:BadCRCofSecuritySettingsinEFIVariable.EnterThinkPadSetup.
