Ifyounoticeanyofthefollowingconditions,gentlycleanthesurfaceofthereaderwithadry,soft,lint-free
cloth:
•Thesurfaceofthereaderisdirtyorstained.
•Thesurfaceofthereaderiswet.
•Thereaderoftenfailstoenrollorauthenticateyourfingerprint.
Ifyourfingerhasanyofthefollowingconditions,youmightnotbeabletoregisterorauthenticateit:
•Yourfingeriswrinkled.
•Yourfingerisrough,dry,orinjured.
•Yourfingerisstainedwithdirt,mud,oroil.
•Thesurfaceofyourfingerisdifferentfromtheonewhenyouenrolledyourfingerprint.
•Yourfingeriswet.
•Yourfingerthatyouarecurrentlyusinghasnotbeenenrolledbefore.
Toimprovethesituation,trythefollowing:
•Cleanorwipeyourhandstoremoveanyexcessdirtormoisturefromthefingers.
•Enrollanduseadifferentfingerforauthentication.
Deletingdatafromyourstoragedrive
Someofthedatastoredonthestoragedrivemightbesensitive.Handingyourcomputerovertosomeone
elsewithoutdeletingtheinstalledsoftware,suchasoperatingsystemsandprograms,mightevenviolate
thelicenseagreements.Besuretodeletedatastoredonthestoragedrivebeforeyoudisposeof,sell,
orhandoveryourcomputer.
Youcanusethefollowingmethodstodeletedatafromthestoragedrive:
•MovethedatatotheRecycleBin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Formatyourstoragedrive,usingthesoftwaretoinitializeit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringthestoragedrivebacktothefactorydefault
settings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangethefilelocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.The
dataisstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseof
specialsoftwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatpeopleofbadfaithmightreadandmisusethecritical
dataonstoragedrivesforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itisimportantthatyoudeleteallthedatafromtheharddiskdrivewhenyou
disposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedataphysicallybysmashingtheharddisk
drivewithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagneticpower,thusmakingthedataunreadable.
Butitisrecommendedthatyouusethesoftware(payware)orservice(payservice)developedforthat
purpose.Theprocessmighttakeseveralhours.
Fordisposingofdataonthesolid-statedrive,LenovoprovidestheDriveEraseUtilityforResettingthe
CryptographicKeyandErasingtheSolidStateDrivetool.
SomecomputersmightsupportaDiskEncryptionharddiskdriveorEncryptionsolid-statedriveandhave
