2.Saveallopenles,andexitallprograms.
3.Turnoffyourcomputerandthenturnonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogrammainmenuopens.
5.SelectSecurity,usingthecursordirectionalkeystomovedownthemenu.
6.SelectPassword.
7.SelectHardDisk1Password.
8.Apasswordwindowopens.YouarepromptedtoselectUserorUser+Master.SelectUserifyouwant
tosetonlyoneharddiskpassword.Ifyouareanadministratororsupervisor,selectUser+Mastertoset
twopasswords.(Theusercanchangetheuserpasswordlater.)
•IfyouselectUseronly,dothefollowing:
a.Whenawindowfortypingthenewpasswordopens,typeyournewpasswordintheEnterNew
Passwordeld.PressEnter.

–YoucansettheminimumlengthofaharddiskpasswordthroughSetMinimumLengthon
theSecuritymenu.
–Ifyousetaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters,theharddiskdrivecanbeusedonly
withacomputerthatcanrecognizeaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters.Ifyouthen
installtheharddiskdriveinacomputerthatcannotrecognizeaharddiskpasswordthat
