ToperformarecoveryoperationusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogramontheWindows7operating
system,dothefollowing:
1.FromtheWindowsdesktop,clickStartAllProgramsLenovoThinkVantageT oolsEnhanced
BackupandRestore.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramopens.
2.IntheRescueandRecoverymainwindow,clicktheLaunchadvancedRescueandRecoveryarrow.
3.ClicktheRestoreyoursystemfromabackupicon.
4.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetherecoveryoperation.

UsingtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceresidesinaprotected,hiddenareaofyourharddiskdrivethat
operatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem.Itenablesyoutoperformrecoveryoperations
evenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Youcanperformthefollowingrecoveryoperations
fromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace:
Rescuelesfromyourharddiskdriveorfromabackup
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutolocatelesonyourharddiskdriveandtransfer
themtoanetworkdriveorotherrecordablemedia,suchasaUSBdeviceoradisc.Thissolutionis
availableevenifyoudidnotbackupyourlesorifchangesweremadetothelessinceyourlastbackup
operation.YoualsocanrescueindividuallesfromaRescueandRecoverybackuplocatedonyourlocal
harddiskdrive,aUSBdevice,oranetworkdrive.
RestoreyourharddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup
IfyouhavebackedupyourharddiskdriveusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogram,youcanrestorethe
harddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackup,evenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperating
system.
Restoreyourharddiskdrivetothefactorydefaultsettings
TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutorestorethecompletecontentsofyourharddiskdrive
tothefactorydefaultsettings.Ifyouhavemultiplepartitionsonyourharddiskdrive,youhavetheoption
torestorethefactorydefaultsettingstotheC:partitionandleavetheotherpartitionsintact.Becausethe
RescueandRecoveryworkspaceoperatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcan
restorethefactorydefaultsettingsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.
Attention:IfyourestoretheharddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackuporrestoretheharddisk
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings,alllesontheprimaryharddiskdrivepartition(usuallydriveC:)willbe
deletedintherecoveryprocess.Ifpossible,makecopiesofimportantles.Ifyouareunabletostartthe
Windowsoperatingsystem,youcanusetherescuelesfeatureoftheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceto
copylesfromyourharddiskdrivetoothermedia.
TostarttheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputerandthenturniton.
2.WhentheThinkPadlogoisdisplayed,presstheblackbuttonorrepeatedlypressandreleasetheF11key.
3.IfyouhavesetaRescueandRecoverypassword,typeyourpasswordwhenprompted.TheRescue
andRecoveryworkspaceopensafterashortdelay.
