Procedure for Mow Circuit Relief Valve Pressure
Test:
1. Make sure hydraulic oil is at normal operating tem-
peraturebyoperatingthemachineforapproximatelyten
(10) minutes.
2. Parkmachineonalevelsurfacewiththecuttingunits
lowered. Make sure engine is off and the parking brake
is engaged. Make sure the hydraulic tank is full.
CAUTION
Prevent personal injuryand/or damageto equip-
ment. Read all WARNINGS, CAUTIONS and Pre-
cautions for Hydraulic Testing a t the beginning
of this section.
3. Thoroughly clean junction of hydraulic hose and
front fittingon the leftfront cutting reelmotor(#2 cutting
unit) (Fig. 28). Disconnect hose from motor fitting.
4. Install hydraulic tester (pressure and flow) in series
with the disconnected hose and the motor fitting. Make
surethattesterflowarrowpointsfromthedisconnected
hoseandtowardthemotor.Also, makesure flow con-
trol valve on the tester is fully open.
5. Topreventreeldamage,temporarily adjustbedknife
on all cuttingunits to allow clearance betweenbedknife
and reel (no contact).
6. Make sure backlap lever on the mow control man-
ifoldisinthemow position and reel speed knob (FC) is
set to highest speed setting (fully open).
CAUTION
Keep away from reels during test to preventper-
sonal injury from the rotating reel blades.
7. After hydraulic tester has been connected, start en-
gineandrunatlowidlespeed.Checkforhydraulicleak-
age and correct before proceeding with test.
8. Movethrottlesoengineisrunningathighidlespeed.
Engage the cutting units.
9. Watchpressuregaugecarefullywhileslowlyclosing
the flow control valve on the tester to fully closed.
10.As relief valve opens, system pressure should be
from2700 to 3300 PSI(186 to227 bar).Recordtestre-
sults.
11.Disengagecutting units. Open controlvalve on test-
er and shut off engine.
12.If relief valve specification is not met, remove pro-
portional relief valve (PRV) on mow control manifold
(Fig.29).Cleanorreplacevalve(seeHydraulicManifold
Serviceinthe Serviceand Repairs sectionof thischap-
ter).Retestmowcircuitreliefvalvepressureafterservic-
ing valve.
13.When testing is c omplete, disconnect tester from
reel motor fitting and hose. Connect hydraulic hose to
the reel motor.
14.Adjust reel speed knob (FC) on mow control man-
ifold to original setting. Correctly adjust bedknife on all
cutting units.
