1.Usethefollowingresourcestoassistwithhydraulicsystemtroubleshooting:

•HydraulicFlowDiagrams(page5–14).
•GeneralandsystemspecictroubleshootingtablesinChapter3:
Troubleshooting.
2.Cleanthemachinefullybeforeyoudisconnectordisassembleanyhydraulic
components.
3.Whenyouperformtestsonthehydraulicsystem,weareyeprotection.
4.Beforeyouperformanytest,inspectthetractioncontrolleverlinkagesfor
improperadjustment,binding,orbrokenparts.
5.Performallthehydraulictestswiththeuidatnormaloperatingtemperature.
6.Installcleanmetalcapsorplugsonthehydrauliclinesthatareleftopenor
exposedduringthetestingorcomponentremoval.
7.Theenginemustbeingoodoperatingcondition.Useanon-contact
tachometer(phototach)toverifyandmonitorengineRPMwhenperforminga
hydraulictest.Enginespeedcanaffecttheaccuracyofthetestreadings.
Usetheinformationbelowwhenperforminghydraulicsystemtests.Ifengine
RPMisaboveorbelowthespeciedspeedduringatest,youwillneedto
adjusttheexpectedhydraulicperformanceparameters.
8.Whenyouuseahydraulictester(pressureandow),ensurethattheinletand
outlethosesareproperlyconnectedandnotreversedtopreventdamaging
thehydraulictesterorcomponents.
9.Installthehydraulicttingsbyhandandensurethattheyarenot
cross-threadedbeforeyoutightenthemwithawrench.
10.Positionanytesthosesawayfrompartsthatmaymoveduringthetest
procedure.
11.Afteryouconnectthetestequipment,checkthehydraulicuidlevelinthe
hydraulictankandensurethattheuidleveliscorrect.
12.Whenyouuseahydraulictester(pressureandow),openthetesterload
valvefullybeforeyoustarttheenginetoreducethepossibilityofdamaging
thecomponents.
13.Recordtheresultsofallhydraulictestsperformed.
14.Afterahydraulictestprocedurehasbeencompleted,checkthehydraulic
uidlevelinthehydraulictankbeforereturningthemachinetoservice.
