Thefuelstopsolenoidmustbeenergizedforthedieselenginetorun.The
solenoidismountedtotheinjectionpumpontheengine(Figure133).
TestingtheFuelStopSolenoid(InPlace)
Note:Beforetakingthesmallresistancereadingswithadigitalmultimeter,short
themultimetertestleadstogether.Themeterwilldisplayasmallresistancevalue
(usually0.5ohmsorless).Thisresistanceisbecauseoftheinternalresistance
ofthemultimeterandtestleads.Subtractthisvaluefromthemeasuredvalueof
thecomponentyouaretesting.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,settheparking
brake,shutofftheengine,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Locatethefuelstopsolenoidontheengineanddisconnectthewireharness
connectorfromthesolenoid.
3.Useadigitalmultimeter,touch1testleadtothepullcoilterminalandthe
othertestleadtothefuelstopsolenoidframe(ground).Theresistanceofthe
pullcoilshouldbelessthan1ohm(butnotzero).
