Theparkingbrakeswitchisanormallyopenswitch.TheElectronicControlUnit
(ECU)monitorstheoperationoftheparkingbrakeswitch.
Theparkingbrakeswitchlocatedundertheoperator’splatform.
Whentheparkingbrakeisnotset,theparkingbrakebracketisawayfromthe
targetendoftheparkingbrakeswitchsothattheswitchisopen.Whenthe
parkingbrakeisset,theparkingbrakebracketispositionedonthetargetendof
theparkingbrakeswitchsothattheswitchisclosed.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engineandthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.Locateanddisconnectthemachinewireharnessconnectorfromtheparking
brakeswitch(Figure129).
3.Connectamultimeter(ohmssetting)acrosstheswitchconnectorterminals
tocheckthecontinuityoftheswitchasfollows:
A.Withtheparkingbrakedisengaged,thereshouldbenocontinuity
betweentheswitchterminals.
B.Engagetheparkingbrake,thereshouldbecontinuitybetweentheswitch
terminals.
4.Replacetheswitchiftestingdeterminesthattheswitchisdamaged.
5.Iftheparkingbrakeswitchtestingiscorrectandacircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthemainwireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicsandWire
HarnessDrawings/DiagramsinAppendixA(pageA–1).
6.Afteryoucompletethereverseswitchtesting,connecttheswitchconnector
tothemachinewireharness.
