Thebatteryistheheartoftheelectricalsystem.Withtheregularandcorrect
service,thebatterylifecanbeextended.Additionally,thebatteryandelectrical
componentfailurecanbeprevented.
CAUTION
Battery-electrolyteiscorrosiveandcanburnskinandeyesand
damageclothing.
Whileworkingwiththebatteries,useextremecautiontoavoid
splashingorspillingoftheelectrolyte.Alwayswearthesafety
gogglesandafaceshieldwhileworkingwithbatteries.
RemovingandInstallingtheBattery
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshortagainstmetalmachine
componentscausingsparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygasses
toexplode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,donotallowthebattery
terminalstotouchanymetalpartsofthemachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetweenthebatteryterminals
andmetalpartsofthemachine.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamagethemachineand
cablescausingsparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)batterycablebefore
disconnectingthepositive(red)cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)batterycablebefore
connectingthenegative(black)cable.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdeck,shutofftheengine,
andengageparkingbrake.
2.Removetheleftconsoleandgetaccesstothebattery;refertoDisassembling
theBodyAssembly(page7–6).
