Note:Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponents
suchashydraulicpump,hydraulicmotor,orliftcylinders,itisimportantthatthe
hydraulicsystemischargedproperly.Removetheairfromthesystemandits
componentstoreducethechanceofdamage.
IMPORTANT
Changethehydraulicuidlterwhenyourepairorreplacethe
hydrauliccomponents.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandshutofftheengine.
2.Afterthehydraulicsystemcomponentshavebeenproperlyinstalledandif
thehydraulicpumpwasrebuiltorreplaced,ensurethatthehydraulicpump
housingisatleasthalffullofcleanhydraulicuid.
3.Ensurethatallofthehydraulicconnections,lines,andcomponentsare
securedtightly.
Note:Flushandllthehydraulicsystemandreservoirwheneverthereisa
severecomponentfailureorthesystemiscontaminated;refertoFlushing
theHydraulicSystem(page5–66).
4.Ensurethatthehydraulictankisfull.Addcorrectquantityofhydraulicuidif
necessary;refertotheOperator’sManual.
5.Checkthecontrollinkageforproperadjustment,binding,ordamagedparts.
6.Disconnecttheelectricalconnectortothefuelstopsolenoidtoprevent
enginefromstarting.
7.Primethehydraulicpump;refertoPrimingtheHydraulicPump(page5–70).
8.Connecttheelectricalconnectortothefuelstopsolenoidtoallowtheengine
tostart.
9.EnsurethatthetractionpedalisinNEUTRALpositionandthePTOswitchisin
theOFFposition.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed.
Note:Thehydraulicpumpmustpickupthehydraulicuidandllthe
hydraulicsystem.Ifthereisnoindicationofllin30seconds,shutoffthe
engineandndthecause.
10.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowthesignsofll,pressthedecklift
switchuntiltheliftcylinderrodmovesinandoutseveraltimes.
11.Iftheliftcylindersdoesnotmoveafter3to5secondsorifthepumpemits
abnormalsounds,shutofftheengineimmediately,andndthecauseor
problem.Inspectforthefollowing:
A.Theoillterorsuctionlinesthatareloose.
B.Anincorrecthoserouting.
C.Thesuctionlinethatisblocked.
D.Thechargereliefvalveinthehydraulicpumpthatisdamaged.
12.Aftertheliftcylindermovesnormally,proceedtostep13.
13.Turnthesteeringwheelinbothdirectionssothatthesteeringcylindersmove
inandoutseveraltimes.
14.Operatethetractionpedalintheforwardandreversedirections.Thedrive
wheelsshouldrotateintheproperdirection.Ifthewheelsrotateinthewrong
direction,shutofftheengine,inspectthehydrauliclineplacementatthe
hydraulicpumpandhydraulicmotor.Correctthehydrauliclineinstallation
beforeyouproceed.
