TractionCircuitComponentFailure
ThetractioncircuitoftheProLineH800isaclosedloopsystemthatincludesthe
hydraulicpumpandhydraulicmotor.Ifacomponentfailureoccursinthetraction
circuit,unwantedmaterialandcontaminationfromthedamagedcomponentwill
circulatethroughoutthetractioncircuit.Thiscontaminationcandamageother
componentsinthecircuit,soremovethecontaminationtopreventadditional
componentfailure.
Therecommendedmethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitis
totemporarilyinstallaTorohighowhydraulic-uidlterintothecircuit;refer
toSpecialTools(page2–15).Useahighowhydraulic-uidlterwhenyou
connecthydraulictestgaugesinordertotestthetractioncircuitcomponentsor
afteryoureplaceafailedtractioncircuitcomponent(e.g.,hydraulicpumpor
hydraulicmotor).Usingahighowhydraulic-uidlterwillremovecontaminants
fromthehydraulicuidinthetractioncircuit,therebypreventingadditional
componentdamage.
AfteryouhaveinstalledtheTorohighowhydraulic-uidlterinthetraction
circuit,raiseandsupportthemachinewithallthedrivewheelsofftheground.
Then,operatethetractioncircuittoallowthehydraulicuidtoowthroughthe
circuit.Thelterremovescontaminationfromthetractioncircuitduringthecircuit
operation.BecausetheT orohighowlterisbi-directional,thetractioncircuit
canbeoperatedinboththeforwardandreversedirections.Whenyouarecertain
thatthelterhasremovedthecontaminantsfromthehydraulicuidofthetraction
circuit,removethelter.RefertoFilteringtheClosed-LoopTractionCircuit(page
5–68)foradditionalinformationonusingtheTorohighowhydraulic-uidlter.
Thealternativemethodtoremovecontaminationfromthetractioncircuitisto
disassembletheentiretractioncircuit,drainthehydraulicuid,andcleanallthe
components,tubes,andhoses.Operatingthemachinewithcontaminantsinthe
tractioncircuitcouldcauseadditionaldamagetocomponentsofthetraction
circuit.
