InstallingtheSteeringCylinder
1.Ifthehydraulicttingswereremovedfromthesteeringcylinder,lubricate
newO-ringswithcleanhydraulicuid,positiontheO-ringstothettings,
andinstallthettingsintothesteeringcylinderports;refertoInstalling
theHydraulicFittings(page5–10).Ensurethatthettingsareorientated
correctly.
2.Ifremoved,applyacoatofthreadlockingcompoundontothethreadsoftie
rodend.Installthetierodend(11)ontothesteeringcylinder(13).
3.Positionthesteeringcylinderontothemachine.
4.Securethesteeringcylinder(13)tothemachinewiththe4bolts(9),washers
(10)andnuts(20).
5.Installthesteeringcylindertierodend(11)ontothespindle(14and15)and
securewiththewasher(10)andnut(16).
6.Removethecapsandplugsfromthehydraulichosesandttingsthatwere
installedduringtheremovalprocess.
7.LubricateandinstallthenewO-ringsonthesteeringcylinderttings.
Correctlyconnectthehydraulichosestothesteeringcylinder;referto
InstallingtheHydraulicHosesandTubes(page5–8).
8.Afteryoucompletetheassembly,ensurethatthehydraulichosesandttings
donotcontactanythingtothechassis.Also,checkforanyhydraulic-uid
leaks.
9.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulictankandaddcorrectquantity
ofuidifnecessary;refertotheOperator’sManual.
10.Operatethemachinefunctionsslowlyuntilairisoutofsystem;referto
ChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page5–72).
11.Starttheengine,checkforhydraulic-uidleaks,repairanyleaksas
necessary,andllthehydraulictankwiththecorrectquantityofnew
hydraulicuid.
12.Checkthatthesteeringcylinderdoesnotcontacttheaxleorframeasthe
steeringcylindermovesfromonedirectiontoanother.
13.Checkandadjustthesteeringstops;refertotheOperator’sManual.
