5.Startengineandrunatidlespeed.Checkforanyhydraulicleakagefromtest
connectionsandcorrectbeforeproceedingwithtest.
6.Ensurethatthehydraulicuidisatnormaloperatingtemperatureby
operatingthemachineunderloadforapproximately10minutes.
7.Ensurethatthetractionpedalisinneutral,thesteeringwheelisstationary
andparkingbrakeisengaged.
8.Increaseenginespeedtohighidlespeedandmonitorpressuregaugeto
determinenoloadtractioncircuitchargepressure.Recordtestresults.
Gaugereadingtobeapproximately1,400kPato1,750kPa(200to250psi)
9.Next,determinechargepressureundertractionloadbyoperatingthe
machineinadirectforwardandreversedirection(notsteering).Release
parkingbrakeandensurethattheengineisrunningathighidlespeed.Apply
thebrakesandpressthetractionpedalintheforwarddirectionandthento
reversewhilemonitoringthepressuregauge.shutofftheengineandrecord
testresults.
Gaugereadingtobeapproximately1,034kPato1,750kPa(150to250psi)
10.Comparemeasuredchargepressurefromstep8withpressurefromstep9:
A.Ifchargepressureisgoodundernoload(step8),butdropsbelow
specicationwhenundertractionload(step9),thepiston(traction)pump
shouldbesuspectedofwearandinefciency.Whenthepistonpumpis
wornordamaged,thechargesystemisnotabletoreplenishlosttraction
circuitoilduetoexcessiveleakageinthewornpump.
B.Ifthereisnochargepressure,orpressureislow,checkforrestrictionin
gearpumpintakeline.Inspectchargereliefvalveandvalveseatinthe
piston(traction)pump;refertoServicingthePiston(Traction)Pump(page
6–168).Also,considerawornordamagedgearpumpsection(P3);refer
toGearPump(P3)FlowTest(UsingTesterwithFlowMeterandPressure
Gauge)(5410/5410-G/5410-D/5510/5510-G/5510-D/5610)(page6–65).
Note:Ifgearpump(P3)iswornordamaged,bothchargecircuitand
steeringcircuitwillbeaffected.
11.Afterchargepressuretestingiscompleted,ensurethattheengineisnot
runningandthenrelievehydraulicsystempressure;refertoReleasing
PressurefromtheHydraulicSystem(page6–8).Removepressuregauge
fromtestportandinstalldustcaptotestport.
