TestProcedure
Note:Whenperformingtheliftcylinderinternalleakagetest,thecuttingunits
shouldbeattachedtotheliftarms.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfacewiththereelengageswitchoff,position
thecuttingunitsintheturn-aroundposition,shutofftheengine,andset
theparkingbrake.
2.Fortheliftcylinderthatistobetested,useajacktoraisetheliftarmslightly.
Thisremovestheloadfromtheliftcylinderandreleasestheliftcylinder
hydraulicpressure.
3.Supporttheliftarmwithjackstandstopreventtheliftarmfromlowering.
Note:Ifeitheroftherearliftcylindersisbeingtested,boththerearliftarms
needtobesupported.

4.Cleantheareaaroundthehydraulichoseendatthebarrelendofthelift
cylinder.Disconnectthehydraulichosefromtheliftcylinderbarrelendtting
(Figure139).
IMPORTANT
Whencappingtheliftcylinderttingandhydraulichoseend,use
asteelcapandplugtoensurethatthereisnouidleakage.The
plasticplugscannotholdthehydraulicpressurethatisdeveloped
duringthistestprocedure.
5.Installasteelcapontheopenliftcylinderttingtosealtheliftcylinder.Also,
installasteelplugintheopenendofthedisconnectedhosetoprevent
leakageorcontamination.
6.Raisetheliftarmslightlywithajackandremovethejackstand,thenlower
andremovethejack.
7.Thecappedliftcylindershouldbeabletosupportthecuttingunitlongenough
forthemachinetomovefromonecuttingareatoanotherduringoperation.
8.Iftheliftcylinderallowsthecuttingreeltolowertooquickly,replaceorrepair
theliftcylinder;refertoLiftCylinder(page6–216)andServicingtheLift
Cylinder(page6–219).
