6.TurnthekeyswitchtotheRUNposition(donotstarttheengine)andcheck
theLEDonthecableendoftheparkingbrakeswitch.TheLEDshouldbe
illuminatedwhentheparkingbrakeisnotset.
7.WiththekeyswitchstillintheRUNposition(donotstarttheengine),setthe
parkingbrakeandchecktheLEDonthecableendoftheparkingbrake
switch.TheLEDshouldnotbeilluminatedwhentheparkingbrakeisset.
8.IftheparkingbrakeswitchLEDdidnotfunctioncorrectly,dothefollowing:
A.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeswitchisproperlyadjusted;referto
AdjustingtheParkingBrakeSwitch(page7–49).Ifnecessary,adjustthe
switchandreturntostep6.
B.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFpositionanddisconnectthe
parkingbrakeswitchconnectorfromthemainwireharness.
C.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting),checkthatthemainwireharness
connectorterminalforblackwireisclosed(continuity)totheground.
D.TurnthekeyswitchtotheRUNposition(donotstarttheengine)and
checkwithamultimeterthatthemainwireharnessconnectorterminalfor
pinkwirehassystemvoltage(12VDC)present.
E.TurnthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition.
F.Iftheblackwireisclosedtotheground,thepinkwirehassystemvoltage
present,andtheswitchLEDdidnotfunction,replacetheparkingbrake
switch.Adjusttheswitchafterinstallation;refertoAdjustingtheParking
BrakeSwitch(page7–49).
9.Iftheparkingbrakeswitchtestingiscorrectandacircuitproblemstillexists,
checkthemainwireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicandWire
HarnessDrawings/DiagramsinAppendixA(pageA–1).
10.Afteryoucompletetheparkingbrakeswitchtesting,ensurethattheswitch
connectorispluggedintomainwireharness.
