Communications Interface
BACnet® Building Automation Control
Network
The BACnet control network for Symbio™ 800 expands
communications from the unit UCM network to the Tracer®
Ensemble™ or Tracer SC+ building automation system or
third party building automation system. Utilizing BACnet,
the BAS allows external setpoint and configuration
adjustment and monitoring of status and diagnostics. The
Symbio 800 utilizes the BACnet defined TP or IP protocol
as defined in ASHRAE standard 135-2004. This controller
works in standalone mode, with Tracer Ensemble, Tracer
SC+ or when connected to a third party building automation
system that supports BACnet.
Modbus Building Automation Control
Network
Allows the user to easily interface with Modbus™ RTU or
IP communication protocol via a single twisted pair wiring
from the Symbio 800 controller to a factory installed device.
LonTalk® Building Automation System
The LonTalk communication protocol for the Symbio 800
controller expands communications from the unit UCM
network to a Tracer® Ensemble™ building automation
system or third party building automation system. Utilizing
LonTalk, the BAS allows external setpoint and
configuration adjustment and monitoring of status and
diagnostics. The Symbio 800 utilizes an FTT-10A free
topology transceiver, which supports non-polarity sensitive,
free topology wiring—which in turn allows the system
installer to utilize star, bus, and loop architectures. This
controller works in standalone mode, peer-to-peer with one
or more other units, or when connected to a Tracer
Ensemble, Tracer SC+, or a third party building automation
system that supports LonTalk.
