What causes a Trane Tracer Summit BCU panel mismatch error, and how can I resolve it?
    • M
      Michael AtkinsJul 28, 2025
A Trane Control Systems BCU panel mismatch error can occur due to active panel checking. To resolve this, verify that the device ID of the panel you are attempting to download matches the Site Configuration address for that panel. Also, check if the panel type in the Site Configuration editor matches the panel that appears in the Panel Mismatch error message. If the Site Configuration setup for the panel matches the BCU hardware, but you still get a panel mismatch error, properly seat or change the failed hardware.

What to do if my Trane Control Systems BCU locks up?
    • A
      April TaylorAug 4, 2025
If your Trane Control Systems BCU locks up, it could be due to several reasons: * A building power disturbance: Cycling the power on the BCU should clear this up. For repeated issues, consider installing an external device to protect against AC power transients. * A power disturbance through the modem line: Cycling the BCU power should resolve this. * Strong EMI/RFI interference: Avoid using cell phones and walkie-talkies within 6 ft of the BCU. * Too many UCM and program objects: Estimate BCU memory usage with the BCU sizing spreadsheet before connecting UCMs and programming the BCU. * BCUs programmed to route alarms/events to remote Tracer Summit PC Workstations: Ensure remote workstations are connected periodically to harvest the alarms.

Why is my Trane Tracer Summit Control Systems BCU not communicating via modem?
    • T
      Thomas BrooksAug 19, 2025
If your Trane Control Systems BCU is not communicating via modem, here are some things to check: * Verify that the BCU has a modem object. * Check for a dial tone and verify that the phone can make and receive calls. * Consider using an in-line transient protection device on the phone line. * If the phone line goes through a local phone system, ensure additional wait times and access numbers are programmed into the phone numbers. * Verify that the correct phone number is being used when attempting to dial into a BCU.
