INSTALLATION
1. Check oil seal in adapter plate for hard-
ening or cracking and replace if necessary.
Oil seal should be replaced whenever spin-
dle is replaced. Press new seal in spring
side down until top of seal is flush with inner
ridge (Figure 46). Inspect and replace “O”
rings if necessary.
2. Check lubricator lines.Lines must be free
from obstructions.Turn on air supply and
operate lubricator briefly to check for prop-
er lubricant delivery from inlet tube. Drain
line must also be clear. Disconnect line at
the lubricator and run wire through tubes
or blow out with pressurized air if neces-
sary.
3. Install adapter plate (if removed). Fasten
adapter plate in place. Connect oil mist line
and drain tube.
Be careful not to reverse
lines!
See Figure 47. Install “O” ring on inlet
tube.Turn on air supply and operate lubri-
cator briefly to insure proper delivery of lu-
bricant from inlet tube.
4. Install spindle.Carefully lower spindle into
position, aligning inlet tube with port in base
of spindle, and fasten securely in place.
Use “L handle wrench provided with ma-
chine or a torque wrench and torque fas-
teners to 45-50 foot/pounds (61-68 New-
ton-meters).
5. Install pulley and timing belt. See “Drive
Parts”, page 75.
6. Install feed assembly. See “Feed Assem-
bly”, pages 44—52..
NOTE:
Operate lubricator ONLY for at least
one half hour before starting machine in order
to lubricate bearings.
