The Model 1700 (Figure 9) is equipped with
STAINLESS STEEL and TUNGSTEN CAR-
BIDE product contact parts and is approved by
the United States Department of Agriculture

APPLICATIONS
The Model 1700 has been successfully
used in hundreds of size reduction applica-
tions in the food, meat, chemical and pharma-
ceutical industries. Combining its precision
cutting principle with a variety of feed assem-
blies and reduction heads, the Model 1700
provides maximum versatility in size reduction.
A partial list of applications includes:
Production of peanut butter, coarse to fine
texture
Rework of broken pastry items for toppings
Puree or chop fruits, nuts and vegetables
Slice grains for breakfast foods
Emulsify and homogenize salad dressings,
sauces, mustard, etc. as well as cream for
ointments and cosmetics
Grate dry or semi-dry cheese
Flake cut meat and fish for portion control
items or pet foods
Production of textured vegetable protein.
PRODUCT LIMITATIONS
MAXIMUM INPUT PRODUCT SIZE, in gen-
eral, should not exceed 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) in
any dimension for 3" cutting heads; 1" (25.4
mm) in any dimension for 2" cutting heads;
3/8" (9.5 mm) to a slurry for microcut heads
(depending on impeller and microcut head
used); and 1/2 (12.7 mm) to 1/4" (6.4 mm) in
any dimension (depending on impeller) for
slicing heads. Reduce input product size if
necessary.
PRODUCTS WHICH ARE EXPLOSIVE or
create a potentially explosive atmosphere
should not be processed.
