4.5.1 Composition
TheMicrodispensingvalvesofVermesMicrodispensingarebuiltmodular.Avalveiscomposedof
fourdifferentmodules:
Electronics/SensorElectronics(1)
ActuatorSystem(2)
FluidBox(3)
NozzleUnit(4)
Module(1)accommodatestheelectronics,requiredtoreceivesignalsfromactuator
andsensor.
Theconnectorsforsensorandactuatorcableareintegratedinthesurfaceofthecase;theyhaveto
belinkedtothecontrolunit.
Theactuatorsystem(2),representingthecoreofthemicrodispensingvalve,housesthesensor,the
piezoelectricelementandthemechanicstodrivethetappet.
Actuatorcaseandmechanicsare
sealedforprotectionagainstdustandcontamination.
Thefluidbox(3)isthermallyisolatedfromtheactuatorsystem.Itspurposeistotransporttheliquid
fromthecartridgeorthetank(differentconfigurationsareavailable,seepage68)tothenozzle
unit.Inorderto
simplifyindependentcleaning,thismodulecaneasilybedisengagedfromthevalve,
justbyopeningtwoscrews.
Thenozzleunit(4)includesthenozzleadjustingnut,thetappetguidanceandtheO‐ring.Thenozzle
insertisaseparateitem,easilytobecleanedandtobeexchangedincaseof
need(thisitemhasto
beconsideredasawearingpart).Theusermaychoosefromalargenumberofinserttypes,accord‐
ingtothecurrentapplication.Specialnozzleinsertsareavailableforliquidsofhigh,mediumand
lowviscosity,liquidswithorwithoutfillers(evenforsubstancescontaining
abrasiveextenders),for
contactingornon‐contactingdispensingetc.Fordetails,refertochapter12.
