APPLICATION: IDENTIFYING GATE SYSTEM CATEGORY AND USAGE CLASS
Applicaon: Idenfying Gate System Category and Usage Class
The SpeedGate has been designed for use in allowing selective access for security purposes for
motorcycles, passenger vehicles and larger transport vehicles.
This System is applicable to a Class I, Class II, Class III or Class IV Gate System, and may only be installed at
locaons meeng the UL 325 denions.
The SpeedGate gate system, according to UL 325 Safety Standards, falls in the Swing Gate and Slide Gate
categories for gate systems. Its usage class is determined by the area that the vehicular gate services. Four
dierent vehicular usage classes are dened by UL 325:
Class IV: RESTRICTED ACCESS VEHICULAR
GATE OPERATOR
Intended for use in guarded industrial locaons
or buildings such as an airport security area or
other restricted access locaon, not servicing
the general public, in which access is monitored
by security personnel or via closed circuitry.
Class II: COMMERCIAL / GENERAL ACCESS
VEHICULAR GATE OPERATOR
Intended for use in a commercial locaon or
building such as mul-family housing units (ve
or more single family units), hotels, garages,
retail stores or other buildings servicing the
general public.
Class I: RESIDENTIAL VEHICULAR GATE
OPERATOR
Intended for use in a locaon of one to four
single family dwellings or a parking area
associated with one to four single family
dwellings.
Class III: INDUSTRIAL / LIMITED ACCESS
VEHICULAR GATE OPERATOR
Intended for use in an industrial locaon or
building such as factories or loading docks or
other locaons not intended to service the
general public.
