Installaon Instrucons for Oponal Gate Edges
The process for installing oponal resisve safety edges supplied by Wallace Perimeter Security at me of
gate order is described below.
The 8.2 output goes dead short (closed circuit) when acvated. However, for UL compliance control
electronics will output a N.C. contact or voltage signal to the gate controller. An edge sensor converter kit/
wireless link kit may be supplied by Wallace Perimeter Security to fulll this requirement.
For installaon of other gate edge types, follow the manufacturers instrucons. The best way to ensure
a quality installaon is to employ a professional installer experienced with gate edge sensors.
Installaon of Resisve Gate Edges (8.2 kΩ terminang resistor)
1. The sensing edges consist of 1 gate edge rubber secon and 1 vercal secon for each gate
panel set. Along with each rubber secon there will be an accompanying aluminum channel
secon of the same length.
In a single bi-fold SpeedGate there will be a total of 1 horizontal secon. In a double bi-fold gate
there will be a total of 2 horizontal secons.
2. Securely fasten the aluminum channel to the gate panel leading edge, using the provided self-
tapping screws.
A hole must be drilled ½” (12.7mm) in size 1” (25.4mm) from the end of each side of the
aluminum channel into the gate frame. See Figure 16.
For UL 325 compliance, all external
entrapment protecon sensors
must have N.C. sensor outputs for
monitoring and powering purposes.
Deacvate gate during installaon.
