SPEEDGATE Installation and Maintenance Manual Revision 1 - MAY 2023
43
INSTALLER AND USER SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Place a sign next to the trac light with the text: “One Vehicle Only per Cycle”.
Adequate lighng can be placed near the SpeedGate to ensure good visibility on both sides of the
gate.
A maximum height sign must be indicated on the SpeedGate. A height signaling system can also be
installed.
You are advised to place a security camera near the SpeedGate. This has the following advantages:
Connual surveillance of the SpeedGate so that appropriate measures can be undertaken if a
dangerous situaon arises.
A collision will be noced.
It is possible to show clearly what the cause of the collision was.
Sabotage of the SpeedGate will be noced immediately.
Safety Instrucons for Maintenance
Use checklists for recording repairs and maintenance to the SpeedGate, and maintain permanent logs of
all gate inspecons, maintenance, servicing and repair acvies.
Weekly inspecons shall include checking the SpeedGate site lighng, tesng the gate system to ensure all
sensors (inherent and external entrapment devices) are operang in accordance with gate programming
and UL standards, and ensuring photo eyes are clean. If used, safety edges and vehicle detecon loops
must be tested and in good working order. See “Inspecon, Servicing and Maintenance” on page 129.
Failure to properly test inherent and
external entrapment devices on a
weekly basis can increase the risk of
injury or death.
